Who does not want to be successful? We all do. We all strive hard to be successful and happy thereafter. And the fact that challenges and competition is not unobvious is also true. There is competition around us in each sphere and walk of life. But why is it that only some of us are able to embrace success and some are just left behind in the race. To have a clinch over success and fame graduates now a days are considering a business degree to be essential to make them equipped with the skills and knowledge which the competition tight corporate world desires. This thought of pursuing a business degree is indeed a smart step but apart from the books and lectures students attend to, there are certain other aspects of a student’s personality that needs to be focused upon. Off course the role of faculty and mentors during the two years of study is inevitable but one cannot deny the importance of efforts of a candidate himself and how effectively does he pick up good changes in him/her persona. Following are certain aspects of thinking and personality development that need to be strengthened in order to be successful after a student completes MBA course

1)      Humanity first: Students often have a misnomer that after MBA he/she is skilled enough to grab success at any cost. And that since he/she has become a master in business administration it is okay to be going beyond any boundary to reap targets and reach maximum profit figures for his/her company. Whereas if we look around us for a moment we will be able to see many professionals, CEOs, companies and corporations who have had adopted wrong means and methods to achieve success. All that can be said is if humanitarian and ethical grounds are taken parallel in consideration by our new generation of business professionals while doing business or a job, then there will be more transparency, belief and a culture of trust prevailing in the investors and other stake holders of the corporation and that will ultimately lead to more profits instead of applying short term tricks to befool stake holders and getting some short term raises and promotions as a professional.

2)      CSR centric policy making: Ever since CSR spending has become mandatory especially after the rolling out of the new Indian Companies Act 2013, it is truly a buzzword and a hot cake sort of a discussion topic. That too CSR activities need to be ongoing instead of a once in a while affair. Hence, the need of the hour is to take societal objectives almost parallel in each function and aspect of business that the new managers would be asked to handle.

But how is all the above discussion going to be happening overnight when the students have not developed their thinking in the same way while they were getting trained for the last two years of their academic life in a b-school? So, the key to open this lock is that students should always learn to manage business aspects in a way that there is possibility of maximum benefit to the society at large. Because whatever entrepreneurial activity the students are going to do in future, its success will surely depend on how beneficial is it for the masses at large. To testify the same, almost all of the new startups including endless entrepreneurial creativity are successful because they addressed the issues of the public at large and hence became successful.

Asia Pacific Institute of Management is a leading name in the aura of top b-schools in India. At Asia Pacific Institute of Management, we strive hard to make the students more and more sensitive towards social and societal issues and also entrepreneurship while being taught and mentored is done in a way that’s students realize and identify the real need of the hour of public at large and then articulate some entrepreneurial solutions to those issues.
