The hard work of preparing for
entrance exams of management colleges has paid-off with decent percentile and
calls from best MBA College. Now it is time for a little more hard work but in
different segment. It is time to pick-up the newspaper, which you have ignored,
and make it your best friend. Read, identify contemporary topics and prepare
your views about them in-depth as if you are writing your exam. This will help
you in presenting your views in a consistent and coherent manner during the
hassles of group discussion and during the interviews. Usually at best mba colleges the second level screening is done by Group discussion, Interview and/
or essay writing.
Group Discussion or GD is
usually conducted to test your teamwork and group behaviour. Your way of
putting across your point shows how you will fare during team exercises. It is
important to speak first in a GD but not at the cost of content. If you don't
feel confident or knowledgeable about the topic given then don't speak just for
the sake of speaking. Listening to others and preparing your views then
speaking will help you come across as a mature thinker.
Interviews are process of
knowing you and assessing whether you will be a fit for the colleges or not.
The interviewers look at you from the perspective of future placement which
they will have to arrange for you. So along with your current knowledge your
attitude towards learning & improving yourself matters.
