Group Discussion or GD is usually conducted to test your teamwork and group behaviour. Your way of putting across your point shows how you will fare during team exercises. It is important to speak first in a GD but not at the cost of content. If you don't feel confident or knowledgeable about the topic given then don't speak just for the sake of speaking.
