Written ability test is gaining importance in the admission criteria of B-schools. It is a pen and paper test where a candidate is asked to write a short essay on either a current affairs topic or on any other issue where people usually have diverse points of view. While writing an essay for admission to a top B-school, the focus should be on the time. Here, the key will be to write as fast as possible in order to finish the essay. For B-school panelists, essays are tools to see how you structure your thoughts and produce them in the least amount of time. It gives the panel a valuable insight of your mind. Management schools use essay writing as a pre-interview yardstick to assess you on clarity, logic, focus, structure and argument. Few tips to crack written ability test successfully are: 1. Expand knowledge base: The first and foremost step in preparing for any entrance exam or an interview is to expand your knowledge base. Know your subject well and keep yourself updated with the current affairs. This will give you substantial information to write on the topic given. 2. Write frequently: In order to communicate the knowledge you have, you should improve your writing abilities. Writing frequently on some of the current affairs topic will not only boost your confidence, but will also help in improving your vocabulary and language. 3. Structure your essay: Whether or not you have sufficient knowledge of the given topic, always remember to structure your essay to give it a logical flow. You are not expected to know everything, but by structuring your essay you will show the examiner that you are meticulous in your approach. Structuring the essay will reflect on the clarity of your thoughts, which is one of the important factors you will be assessed on. 4. Make your writing interesting: By this we do not mean you should use exhaustive vocabulary or language that is difficult to understand. To make your essay interesting, give it a fresh perspective. Be specific and avoid predictable, generic and clichéd writing. Develop your main idea with a few facts, events, interesting observations and reasons. 5. Manage your time: Remember, you are given very limited time to put down your thoughts. Spend the first few minutes on understanding the given topic and then structure your essay. Make sure you leave a couple of minutes at least at the end to review what you have written. Check for grammatical errors, punctuations, syntax, flow of thoughts and expressions used. Having said that, do not change too many things in the last minute. Make sure you present your essay in a legible and a good way.

How to crack Personal interview (PI).

http://www.asiapacific.edu/

The most tricky and difficult round that students face before getting admission into top business college is the ‘Personal Interview’ round. We can say that it is the most significant and last key component for selection process by the top B- college. A personal interview is aimed at knowing a candidate more intimately - assessing the clarity of thinking process, future goals and the 'fit' with the B-school. It provides the admission committee of a b-school to evaluate students interpersonal and soft skills. Interview discussions generally involve questions on personal goals, work experience, academics, hobbies and current affairs. During the interview, having clarity of thoughts is far more important than answering these questions. So striking a good balance among the various areas should be the objective of one’s interview preparation. Knowing yourself is the most important part of interview preparation. It is not acceptable if a candidate cannot answer questions based on his/her own personality. It would give an impression of an immature or “self – unaware” person. A candidate hence needs to do a lot of soul searching on questions like: “Why you want to do this course? Strengths and Weaknesses, long term/ short term goals. If a person is working for more than six months then questions on work experience will play a role during interview. The obvious areas of questioning are work profile, projects, organization chart of company and where a person fit in. One should be able to give some examples of team work and leadership from employment. Also if a person is working for less than 2 years then he or / she is still supposed to remember some aspects of their education. One need not to study everything, but should know the basics of all the subjects that they have studied. A good barometer would be curriculum till higher secondary. Ideally, having hobbies can really make interviews quite interesting as they can clearly make a distinction between you and the rest. Not having a hobby is certainly negative; but worse is getting grilled for a cited hobby when you do not have one. General Knowledge can be a really vast topic. Common knowledge like the capital of some countries should be known. On a whole one needs to be systematic regarding their preparation, make a check list of what they do not know and work with it. If one is organized, he or she will definitely perform well in their interview.

Prerequisites for MBA Admission.

www.asiapacific.eduThe MBA course in India fascinates many aspirants, so the number of Management schools offering Masters Degree and Postgraduate diploma (PGDM) in business administration has also expanded. The admissions process for a MBA program varies from b-school to school, although there are some similarities among all of them.
Prerequisites for admission into an MBA program generally include a bachelor’s degree in business administration from an accredited university or college. Most MBA programs do not require a specific undergraduate major. In fact, many programs prefer some diversity in that regard. However, a bachelor’s degree in business can be helpful when prerequisite courses are required.

MBA programs also have course prerequisite requirements to ensure that students possess general knowledge in business disciplines. However, it is not a necessary requirement for all the applicants. Applicants, those who did not take business as major in undergrad will have to take these prerequisites. This incorporates topics related to management, finance, marketing, economics, statistics and mathematics.
An admissions test is a common requirement for MBA programs. The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is by far the most common exam. A significant number of schools select the applicants according to the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) test. Whichever test it may be, careful and devoted preparation must be required to get a competitive score. It is important to spend enough time to properly prepare for any MBA entrance exam.
Many MBA programs recommend or even require a certain number of years of work experience. Generally, this is stated as post-MBA college, full-time work experience. Some programs even specify that experience should be increasing in responsibility or managerial in nature. Even though work experience is not explicitly required, it is an advantage to the applicant over others. Once you have met the pre-MBA requirements, then you are ready to apply to an MBA program.
